November 5, Thoughts on Sunday
I've been told, "A church shouldn't talk about sex" quite a bit lately. WELL, listen to some of the comments on the connect cards from yesterday. A day we discussed sex in a very frank manner.
1. GREAT! I wish my church would have discussed sex like this while I was growing up.
2. Thank you God for giving Dean the courage and passion to give today's message. It was so real and honest.
Just when I think there is a topic that I know about, you always teach me something new. Thank God for 5
Point and for having the courage to do church differently.
3. God's Word was awesome today.
4. I learned so much about sex in the Bible.
5. Awesome!
I could go on but I think you get the point. People are hungry for the truth and especially about topics that are real in todays culture. Everyone has to admit that sex is real in our communities.
No matter how many nasty phone calls or e-mails we get, we're going to continue teaching God's Word. ALL OF IT!
This week we'll be discussing porn. I realize no Christians have a problem in this area - NOT! Many Christians are involved and we must begin to cleanse the sin inside the church before we can conquer the sin outside the church. Please pray with me for God to deliver people from this powerful addiction.
Random thoughts:
* music was great Sunday. Terry, Scott & Andrea did an awesome job. Loved Tim playing the guitar. Actually saw
a little dancing going on over there. Donnie did great on the base for his first time. Grant & Jeremy, always
there, always do a fantastic job. Can't thank you guys enough.
* our home team rocked last night. Love hanging out with them.
* have to make some tough decisions with Terry leaving
* how bout them Tigers. They now control their own destiny.
* I'll be cheering the Tigers on this Saturday from a box. Andrew and I are pumped up about our seats.
* Really working hard this week to get below 290. Swam 20 laps and worked out early this morning. Jogging
this evening while Jacob rides his bike.
* reading unChristian and it is awesome.
* had lunch with Stephen from UAG today. Was asking how we do things. I'll help any staff member from any
church because I've been seeking help for years.
* we really need some rain
* gotta clean my attic out. Throw a bunch of junk away.
* thinking about selling our house. Want to buy some land.
* really enjoyed both services yesterday. Thought worship and teaching time were great!
* not sure anyone realizes just how much Tim Winkler does. Thanks Tim-Bo
* Curtis & Karen Middleton did an awesome job replacing Lawson & Michelle. Thanks guys.
* not sure about some leadership stuff. Pray for me
* pastoring this church is awesome.
* hope I can sleep tonight. Some nights are really tough.
* want to see a deer so bad I can't stand it. Hunting tomorrow evening with Andrew. Maybe!
If anyone has some property you'd allow a pastor to hunt on-I'd love to hear from you.
