January 21, Unleash
Perry Noble (pastor of New Spring) and I began our seminary journeys together. Southeastern had an extension in Charlotte and we traveled, took class and studied together for a couple of years. Both of us were youth pastors and had no desire to plant a church. A lot has changed since those days.
Perry started New Spring and has seen incredible growth. New Spring has been our Mother church since day one. They have been a true blessing to our church in countless ways. We wouldn't be where we are today without New Spring. In my opinion, Perry and his staff are some of the greatest leaders I’ve had the privilege of being around.
In saying that, I am encouraging anyone who has a heart for Jesus and a desire to help change our community through 5 Point to attend the best one day leadership conference I’ve attended. Unleash is a one day conference hosted by New Spring Church in Anderson, S.C. The conference is coming up SOON and we need to get people signed up.
Last year was their first year holding the conference and we took 10 people. EVERY person who attended the conference has stepped up into a huge role at 5 Point. This year we plan on taking as many people as we can. New Spring is only thirty minutes away. There will be people attending from all parts of the country. We need to take advantage of this incredible leadership conference being offered so close by. We are going to pay the way for as many people as possible. I’d love to see 100 people sign-up. If more than that sign-up, we’ll find the money.
If you want to attend Unleash, e-mail Tim at tim@5pointfellowship.org and he will put you down. (Starting February we’ll have a secretary doing all of this) If you want to see where we are headed as a church and what it is going to take to get there, SIGN-UP for this conference. It truly is life-changing.
THOUGHTS ON YESTERDAY
Thank you to everyone who worshiped with us yesterday. Attendance was extremely low because of the weather, but God was very much present. The service was geared at the fear of failure. I had no idea that 90% of our people fear failure as much as I do. I thought worship was great. Liz did a great job with Someone is watching over me and as usual, Tim and the band were rocking. We have some changes coming in two weeks I think your gonna like with the band.
I’m meeting with Dr. Paul Jordan at 11:45 to help me with next weeks message. Going to do something we’ve never done before and I can’t wait.
One more thing, as I was opening up the message I shared the things in my life I fear. Snakes is definitely one of them, so I had two snakes (in an aquarium) brought onto the stage during the black out period (hate the dark). I threw a rubber snake at a friend (aren’t you glad you’re not my friend) who knew it was coming and she still freaked out. It was great! Another lady has such a fear of snakes she had to leave the auditorium. Please know she wasn’t mad, in fact she and her family we’re in my home team last night and we laughed about the whole thing. She just hates snakes a lot more than me. Glad those snakes will be out of the office today!
