January 24, Headache

How often do we get a headache and think nothing about grabbing a Tylenol or Advil?  I don't get headaches often, but when I do I'm running to the medicine cabinet or my desk drawer.  Can I be honest with you; as Americans we expect this type of connivance.  But, that's not the case for a lot of other places in the world.

Richard and Kathy Barnette are leaving next week on a mission trip to Nicaragua to help with knee and hip replacements.  They haven't asked for anything except prayer and Tylenol.

Let me share what happened with me as I was buying some myself.  The Herman and Clary family met Andrew and Joseph Powell (Andrew roommate) at Myabi's in Greenville for dinner.  What an awesome meal.  I love that rice and sauce.  Our bill was $70.00.  I was shocked.  I justified it because we had enough left over to eat again on Tuesday night.  We left Myabi's and went to Sams to get cleaning supplies for the church.  I also wanted to get some Tylenol and Advil.  As I reached for a box of each (50 packs of two) I noticed they we're $9.00.  I was thinking thats $20.00.  Then the Holy Spirit quietly whispered, "and you just spent $70.00 on a meal that these people will NEVER enjoy."  We are so blessed.  We are so fortunate to live in a country with the health care we have.  America isn't perfect, but I can guarantee you it's better than these people have.

Please take time out of your busy schedule to help others.  Buy Tylenol, Advil, generic brands and don't think about just the little bit of money your spending but how you'll be taking part in impacting another's life.

Please pray for Richard and Kathy.  I hope all the surgeries go well, but even more importantly I hope the gospel of Jesus Christ is shared and lives are changed.
