January 28, Thoughts on SUnday
As promised, we did something completely different yesterday. For the thousands that read my blog and weren't able to experience yesterday's worship experience with us, allow me to share what happened. After the intro video, which comprised of a compilation of short videos with people talking, singing and joking about hell. Dr. Paul Jordan (one of my spiritual mentors & a professor at SWU) and I had a question answer conversation about Hades, Abraham's bosom, heaven, hell and paradise. I've received numerous comments on how much people enjoyed this style of teaching. People learned a great deal and we're challenged. Thank you so much Paul for your willingness to share at 5 Point and leave your church and family.
5 people accepted Christ as their personal Savior. We mailed out a bunch of first time visitor cards today.
Here are some of the comments on the connect cards:
* awesome message, I learned so much today and Kathy's song was moving.
* both services we're excellent. Best teaching I've ever had on hell. It's a topic I'll share with family and friends.
* great message, thank you for teaching us this.
* I did not know the majority of todays teaching. Thank you for caring enough about us to teach on this topic.
* I re-committed my heart and life to Jesus.
* the service was awesome today and I learned a lot!
* the music was too loud. I couldn't get into the spirit because my fingers were in my ears. (someone just sharing
their opinion which I'm not against)
This Wednesday night Dr. Paul Jordan is coming and leading a question/answer time with everyone. I'm telling you this guy has the Bible memorized. If you have any questions about heaven, hell, hades or whatever. Be here Wednesday evening. The doors open at 6:15 and we'll get started at 6:30.
Working on our upcoming series, America's Idol. The first five minutes of the message time this week are going to be off the hook. Rumor is that the cheer leaders are trying out for America's Idol. I can promise you that this series is going to rock. My heart and passion is to teach God's Word in such a way that people can apply it to their every day life. This series will definitely speak to EVERYONE here.
