January 30, Staff
As I continue thinking and praying about our existing staff, more staff, office space, job responsibilities and how to lead our staff I'm thankful for the staff in place thus far. The people of 5 Point have no idea just how good TIm, Michelle, Terry and Richard are at what they do. Some may be asking, "who is Richard?" Great question.
Richard gregory came on board a couple weeks ago as our tech guy. What a resume he brings to the table. He is employed at Clemson University (that is a God thing in itself) and does a lot of their computer stuff. He and his wife Melissa, and their son Caden have been coming to 5 Point the past couple of months. His expertise have already been felt. Tomorrow I'll be revealing our new e-mail invite created by Richard. What a great way to invite literally thousands of people. He is creating a new web-site and a great deal more. Helping with technical stuff you won't see until later. And, he is part time which is a good thing. Richard works on a contract basis which means we pay him hourly for what he does. I'm excited about what Richard will be able to do to move 5 Point to the next level.
You may have noticed the name Terry also and thought Terry had left us to start a singing ministry. Different Terry. I'm referring to Terry Whiteside, our maintenance man. When your church is located in a building that was built in 1948 things are constantly going wrong. Terry fixes it all. Believe me, he doesn't get paid much but his expertise is greatly appreciated. Just this past Sunday we had a seal break in the drainage pipe in the boys bathroom. Monday it was fixed. Thanks for all you do Terry. Many people will never know all you do, but I do and appreciate you greatly. Even more importantly, God is watching and even more thankful.
I can't brag on Michelle enough. Her love and passion for kids is evident. Last Sunday the Kid Zone had 150 between the two services. Way to go Shell and Kid Zone staff. If kids want to come to 5 Point, Dad & Moms will be here if they want to or not. Lawson, Michelle's husband is awesome as he helps Michelle every Sunday in both services and teaches our youth on Wednesday evenings also. I'm not lying, if Lawson and Michelle up and left we'd be in a heap of trouble. Tell the Clary's just how much you appreciate them on a regular basis.
Last but not least there is Timbo. Dean Herman could die today and 5 Point would never miss a beat but if Tim Winkler dies or left we'd be left spinning. No one but me knows just how much Tim does. He has a heart beat for this church and Christ. Tim will become the executive pastor one day. But for now, he is filling whatever role asked of him. Worship leader, finances, video stuff, anything I ask of him. I don't consider Tim just a co-worker, he is much more. He is one of the best friends I've ever had. When I'm ill as a hornet Tim knows how to handle me. When I'm flying like a kite, Tim knows how to handle me. WE do more than ministry togehter, we do life together. Tim and have been together for over six years now. Poor guy! Tim & Erica are awesome and I thank God for them regularly.
As we add staff pray with me that God leads me to HIS people and not mine. I'm praying daily about a couple other positions now.
