February 6, Sick Kid
I did something today (Wednesday) I rarely do. I spent the entire day with my 9 year old Jacob. Jacob has been out of school on and off since last Thursday. Debbie had to be at work yesterday since she has been staying home with him. In fact she took Jacob to the doctor yesterday and we found out he has viral bronchitis. The doctor wouldn't allow him to go back to school until Thursday.
I spoke at Home of the Heart at 9:00 am and Jacob just tagged along with me. He took a book and read as I was teaching God's word to 16 addicts. They we're eating it up. We discussed how to defeat addiction. Thought it was an appropriate topic. Used a message I did during our "I Screwed Up" series.
I had planned on working from home during the rest of the day. Didn't work out that way. Jacob and I built a volcano from clay. Science project. Actually had a good time doing this with him. We then had lunch and watched a movie together. After wards came my butt kicking in x-box football. Shortly after Deb came home and I got ready to head to the church for our Wednesday service.
To be honest, I need to slow down more often and just hang out with my boy. I don't need to wait until he is sick.
Staying at home a day was actually somewhat pleasant. Here is the cool thing. I did think a lot about Sunday's message. I threw what I had already prepared in the trash and started over this morning. Can't wait to open God's Word and teach what God laid on my heart.
