March 24, Thoughts on Sunday
Easter Sunday 2008 has come and gone. I've been reading some of my pastor friends blogs and others I've never met. It can almost be overwhelming how God is blessing so many churches. Then there is 5 Point. We're not near the size of some of these churches. But, for being 3 years old I'm excited about what God is doing here. We now have two full time staff members and two part time. We are still looking for land or the building God has in store for us. We can't do a lot of things I'd like because we don't have the resources. BUT, when you look at what God is doing here (especially with the pastor we have) I am blown away. We've only had a couple Sundays this year that someone has given their life to Christ. Every week the responses on the connect cards take my excitement to another level. Without any type of advertising, nothing but our people inviting we had two services 70% full. (We still have room for more a lot more) with the children's side rocking. WOW and thank you Jesus is all I can say. Thank you 5 Pointers for allowing me the honor of pastoring you and this church.
Some thoughts about yesterday and life in general:
* It snowed in Easley today. I was wearing shorts and playing whiffle ball yesterday.
* Good response to yesterdays service.
* Loved the new two risers on the stage.
* Seeing people surrender their life to Christ keeps me going.
* Having fun studying about angels.
* Think I know where I'm taking Deb for our 28th anniversary.
* I feel good about Jacob's salvation.
* Jacob is sooooo much like me. Poor kid.
* Rumor is we'll have a couple new singers this Sunday.
* I'm going to begin some leadership thoughts for the rest of the week.
* Started reading another book, Simple Church.
* I'll probably begin Courageous Leadership tonight also.
* Really convicted about getting four weeks ahead with sermon prep. Hope to be one week ahead this week.
* Had someone comment that music was too loud. Just for the record, we ain't turning it down. I love our band,
the worship time we have together and its only gonna get louder and better.
* On the topic of music, you can't please everyone. We do our best to have a good mix.
* Our next series is called, Pimp My Life. I believe this has the potential to be the best we've ever done.
* Have begun praying about two locations for our permanent location. Ok, begging God would be a better
description.
* Seeking the best way to get our new believers plugged in.
* We'll be having another baptism very soon. Sign up or call church office if you desire baptism.
* God really spoke to me this morning during my devotional time. Share those thoughts later in the week.
How are you doing with your personal devotions? Get into God's Word, it will change your life!
* The softball team practiced last week. We're REALLY bad. Great fellowship.
* Why did the Tigers ger beat by Villanova? I had them going to the sweet sixteen.
* My first triathlon is in 6 weeks. Started training A LOT harder this morning. Want to work out at least 6 days a
week and lose another 20 pounds between now and then. 270 is my goal.
* I love being the pastor of 5 Point.
