June 16, Thoughts on Sunday
Acts 4:13
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13 is one of my favorite verses in scripture. Two ordinary guys are impressing the church people because of their boldness for Jesus, and they're no different from me. And that is exactly what we discussed yesterday morning.
My "One Prayer" for 5 Point is that we would become bold about our faith once again. The church has lost its courage and began to worry about comfort. The vision God has laid on my heart has nothing to do with comfort but with courage and that was the prayer of the first church.
Acts 4:29
Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.
Worship was great yesterday. Our prayer time for other churches really hit home with me. I so desire to see churches unite and become one. If you were one of those who took a card and agreed to pray and write a sister church, please do so. The message wasn't one of those I particularly looked forward to because it challenges all of us to get out of our comfort zones. Please give us courage an boldness Lord Jesus.
Attendance is always down for us on Father's or Mother's Day. Many of our people travel to worship with their parents.
Father's Day are always a little tough because my Dad is no longer here. I do always reflect on all the incredible memories I have of Dad. Miss you Dad.
I spent the afternoon with my family at the lake. It was awesome. We stayed until 8:00 pm. Ate a taco from taco bell and watched the remainder of the US Open. I enjoyed my Father's Day.
