July 7, Vacation is over

Vacation was awesome.  Played three different golf courses, went Deep Sea fishing, attended the Dixie Stampede, played putt-putt twice and saw Hancock.  I need a vacation from vacation.  Went to weight watchers this morning, only gained a few; but enjoyed every pound of it.

I spoke at my former pastor and mentors church (The Rock) in Conway.  They meet in the new theater.  Probably as nervous as I've ever been speaking.  Went really well.  Heard a lot of good comments.  After wards had lunch with Kevin and his family.  Great seeing all of them again.

Wanted to share a praise report about vacation.  God allowed me to turn the switch off for the entire week.  I tried not to even think about our church much.  Very well may be the first time I've really been able to shut down for a week and to be totally honest, it was awesome.  I needed it.

During One Prayer and vacation I only taught one time during a 5 week span at 5 Point. This was also a first.  Some people may wonder why, that's my job.  I want to finish today with that question in mind.

Several reasons it was good for me not to teach:
1. Gives me even more of a hunger to teach & prepare
2. Allowed me to catch up on some administration stuff
3. Gave our people an opportunity to hear other speakers.  Truth be known, much better than myself.
Ed Young Jr, Craig Groshell are two of my favorite communicators.  Travis and Lawson both did a great job
    filling in for me.
4. Gives the creative thoughts an opportunity to relax
5. Proves to 5 Point I'm not all that important.  Things went great without me.
6. Spent a lot of time with my family
7. Realized I need to allow others to teach more often

In saying that, I am jacked up about teaching God's Word!  This Sunday we'll be baptizing and worshiping in the parking lot.  Don't forget we're only having one service at 9:30 and serving pancakes at 9:00.  Bring a lawn chair for yourself and someone else.
