August 4, Sunday worsghip was hot
I can honestly say yesterdays worship was by far the hottest I've ever experienced. While at Promise Keepers Easley experienced a severe lighting storm. We didn't realize the Colony theater took a direct hit or very close to one. The main auditorium air conditioning unit was fried. As I walked into the building I knew it was gonna be hot. The thermostat read 80 and it was early with no one but the band and myself there. Someone asked what we were going to do, I replied, "we gonna have church."
As I went upstairs to retrieve my power point from e-mail, quickly found out our inter net was gone also. Talk about being hot, I was furious. Being honest, I thought to myself, how are we going to be able to worship without air conditioning and power point. Then out of nowhere God began to speak to me in a very real way. I was reminded of worshiping in Costa Rica last year with nothing but a tin roof, wooden benches and hot weather. Prayed for God to forgive me and preceded to make the best of a hot situation.
I was scared some people might get up and leave as the temperature soared to 84 in the main auditorium. I politely apologized and we started worshiping. To my amazement people were worshiping, smiling and enjoying the presence of God. Had several people comment on how real worship actually was. No one left and God hovered among us in a very real way. Helped me to realize no matter how hard I try, God is always in control, regardless of the circumstances.
I'm glad to report the air conditioning was looked at today and will be up and running very soon.
Some thoughts:
* Awesome staff meeting today. Met at Silver Bay. They have AC.
* Tim is taking this Sunday of. Well deserved. Tim does so much for 5 Point and for me.
* Home group rocked last night.
* Prayed for a long time this morning. Really seeking God about some major decisions.
* Excited about upcoming series called "Contagious." Much more later.
* Praying for people as they fast through the month of August.
* Travis will be leaving next week to plant his church. Hate to see him go. Did a great job.
* We had close to 150 in the children's theater yesterday. That is awesome!
* Couple of leadership decisions to be made this week.
* Gotta get up early in the morning, going to bed.
