August 21, Africa mission trip
I hesitated putting this out here, but realized it was best. I'm heading to Tanzania, Africa in November. I will be training 15 local pastors & their wives. I'll also have the opportunity to work in a leper colony prepare an orphanage for 24 children. We will convert large property purchased in 2007 to an orphanage/ministry center.
Tanzania is listed as the 11th poorest nation in the world. The average person lives on less than $300 USD per year. The society is 80% agricultural which leaves them vulnerable to weather, pestilence, etc. Basic food needs are critical during the rainy seasons and between crops. Malaria is a very real threat with it being the most common disease affecting women and children. HIV/AIDS infects 1 in 10 causing many of the children to be orphaned. Tanzania is very open to the gospel with about a third of the population claiming Christianity. The remaining population is evenly split between Muslim and tribal religion. Witch doctors still practice in Tanzania.
The reason for sharing all of this, I need to raise my support by next Friday. If you'd like to invest in the lives of children and the training of pastors so they can share the gospel of Jesus Christ, let me know. I need to raise $3,000 by next Friday (August 29) in order to go.
