September 9, I'm such a moron

Do you ever amaze yourself with your own stupidity?  This isn't a blog filled with wisdom or insight on how to live better.  This is about how your Pastor is a complete total moron.

Yesterday morning I got the trailer form the back yard to take to the church so Tim and I could take the truss and lights back to Greenville.  Our pool was a little low so I turned the water on right before jumping into the truck.  After closing the gate and getting Jacob loaded up we hit the road.  Yep, I left the water running.  This was 7:30 am.  Debbie called me at the office at 4:45 pm and asked me if I had forgotten anything.  The words hadn't left her mouth and I knew what she was talking about.

Jumped in the truck and headed home.  What I found wasn't pretty.  Water flowing over the top everywhere, but especially where the pump is.  It was coming out of the top of the filter.  As the water ran out it had ate away the sand around the bottom of the pool.  The liner was beginning to poke out from under the pool.  I called Deb and told her and Jacob to get out there immediately before we lost the pool.  If the liner broke, she was gone.

Deb had to hold her finger over the hole in order for me to backwash (suck the water out through the pump) so that the water wouldn't eat away any more of the sand.  I began trying to push the liner back under the pool.  You ever tried to pushing hundreds of gallons of water?  Not happening.  Laid the sand to it hoping the liner wouldn't bust.

Found out that there is a six inch deep and foot long indention inside of the pool where the liner was poking out.  I don't know how to fix it but to drain the water, shove the liner back in and fill it back up.  I am a complete total moron.  I don't know any other way to say it.

Couple hours later I began mowing the back yard.  Trying to cool down a little bit.  I was steaming at myself to say the least.  I hate when God starts speaking to me.  As I was fussing (at no one but myself) God whispered a few things into my bitter spirit:
* You could be shoveling sand down south trying to save your home from the flood waters
* You could be shoveling sand in Iraq so you'd have somewhere to sleep
* You could be shoveling because your burying a loved one
* You could be shoveling sand every day (thank goodness I don't) to make a living

When it comes right down to it, shoveling sand to try and save your pool isn't really that big of a deal.

Moral of story; don't leave your water running in the pool while your at work.  If you do, you'll be considered a moron also!
