October 6, Busyness

I know I'm not the only person who can let life get entirely too busy.  Allow me to show you what I mean:
Saturday, September 27th went to Clemson/Maryland game with my two sons & i-laws from Virginia
Sunday the 28th - spoke at both services, did a wedding at 3:00 and taught marriage class at 6:00
Monday 29th, worked and had spiritual two a days training in Clemson
Tuesday 30th, worked all day and Jacob had a 7:30 game
Wednesday October 1, spoke at Home of the heart, met with my spiritual two a day athlete, worked and had
dinner in Greenville with Dwain and Anita about becoming youth pastor.  Got home after 10:00 pm
Thursday 3rd, worked all day and spoke at Home of the Heart revival at 7:00 pm
Friday, read while deer hunting (saw nothing) worked in yard and held down markers for Liberty football game
Saturday 4th, Lake baptism (awesome day) pictures coming
Sunday, spoke at both services, came to office at 4:30.  Weight class and marriage improvement
This week Jacob has a game on Tuesday, I'm speaking at the Fields of Faith youth rally on Wednesday night and I'm leaving with the staff at 5:30 am on Thursday for Catalyst (incredible leadership conference) and won't be back until Friday evening.

I could continue but I think you get the picture.  Your probably wondering why I'm sharing this with you.  Because I'm not the only one who is busy these days.  It seems as if busyness has taken over our culture and I believe Satan uses it to his advantage.

I've come to find out (by asking people) that when your busy you don't always say yes to the great thing but to the good things.  Always make sure you say no to the good things so you can say yes to the great things.
Here is an example in my life.
Good thing - teaching God's Word     Great thing - a date night with the woman of my dreams.
Did you notice I haven't had a date night in three weeks and it isn't happening this week.  NOT GOOD!

Example in so many other lives:
Good thing - working hard                Great thing - spending time with God by reading His Word and praying

Don't allow Satan to creep into your family by doing good things and ignoring the great ones.  Guess one of the reasons this weighs so heavy on my heart is because I'm preaching to myself also.  I spend a lot of time with God but I allow busyness to take time away from my family.  Never allow busyness to replace time spent with God and family.
