October 13, Thoughts on Sunday
Saturday evening I dropped a tool chest (big red ones with 10 drawers) on my right big toe. To say that it hurt is an understatement. I don't cuss but I wanted to. By midnight I was miserable and by 2:30 am I couldn't take anymore. I got Andrew up to drill a hole in my toe nail. He touched my toe and I immediately threatened his life. I couldn't believe the pain I was in. Blood under the toe nail was creating intense pressure. I haven't closed my eyes yet and Sunday morning was almost upon me.
I swallowed my pride and headed to the Pickens hospital er. To make a three hour story really short (only two patients in er with four nurses and one doctor) they eventually numbed my toe and burnt a hole in the toe nail. Blood shot up 12 inches and continued for a while. I immediately felt better. In fact, it hasn't given me that much trouble since Saturday evening. I finally got into bed at 5:00 am. Up before 7:00.
To say that i was exhausted before getting onto the stage is a tad bit silly. I begged God for strength to help me teach two very tough lessons. I knew this message would require a lot of passion and transparency. I begged God to do something awesome!
As usual, God didn't let me down. Here are some of my thoughts on Yesterday morning:
* Several salvations. Love seeing people giving life to Jesus
* Altar was full as people were making decisions
* Worship at the end of the message was different and awesome
* Felt like the message was very well accepted because it hit all of us between the eyes
* Couldn't believe the tears flowing. A lot of people are discouraged in life
* So many people thanked me for the message as leaving
* The wheel barrel analogy really hit home
* I know I was longer than usual but can't apologize. God was moving.
* Attendance continues to grow. Keep up the good work of inviting unchurched friends and family.
* The youth home group went really well last night. I think Dwain is going to be a good fit. I did tell him today in
staff meeting that if he wanted to continue working here no more Clemson jokes
* The marriage, weight and finance classes on Sunday nights are going great.
* We're close to having 50% of our people in home groups. That is great
I have so much on my heart I want to share but that can wait until tomorrow!
