Novemebr 11, Leadership
I've really been dealing with a lot with leadership issues. Such as:
1. How to be the best leader I can be.
2. How to grow more leaders and better leaders.
3. How to pick the best leaders from among our people.
The list could go on but I think you get the picture.
One way I plan on developing leaders is by having monthly leadership meetings in which I will pour myself and the vision into what I perceive to be potential leaders. Last night we had our first meeting and it was awesome.
Before someone ask, "why wasn't I invited," I took the top 20 givers of the church and invited them. Amazing how the people who give the most usually serve the most. Anyway, after dinner I spoke for 30 minutes and finished by allowing everyone to ask questions. I was asked a great question that I want to share and my response.
Question:
"Dean, what do you expect out of us as leaders?"
My response was fourfold:
1. To love Jesus and stay as close as possible to him.
2. To serve in the area your most gifted and enjoy. Because if not, you won't do a good job anyway.
3. To have my back no matter what. If you have a problem with me come talk to me, not everyone else.
Even if you disagree, you gotta have my back. I need to know your on board for the long haul.
4. To help me look for other leaders.
Any organization can only go as far as its leadership and that includes 5 Point Fellowship.
