January 5, Thoughts on Sunday

I'm back from the Gator Bowl (hate the Tigers lost but had a blast) and jacked up about 2009.  Yesterday I took the day off from speaking and attended New Spring and Foothills.  This was intentional.  I wanted my mind off of preparing and its always good to see how God is blessing in other churches.  I had an awesome time.  Jay Harwick spoke for me and did an awesome job as he always does.  We'll be supporting Jay's church (about to plant a church in Columbia) in several ways.

Let me share some thoughts on Sunday night:
* We showed the movie Fireproof.  I believe every married couple, those getting married, those living together etc. need to
   see this movie.
* The front row had a couple seats and that was it.  The place was packed out.
* Between Sunday morning & Sunday evening we had 950 people in our building.  Unbelievable!
* People gave their life to Jesus after the movie. That never gets old.
* Countless couples prayed for God to forgive and strengthen their marriage.
* Life change took place.
* Gave away every drink and all the popcorn we could make.
* Worth every penny we spent on buying the movie and the rights to show it, the pop corn and drinks.
   No price on life change.
* Volunteers did a great job getting everything ready and making people feel welcome.
* A special thanks to all those who helped watch children.  THANK YOU!  You guys rock.
* The next couple of months marriages will be saved.  Marriages will be drawn closer together and I believe a lot of
people will accept Jesus as their Savior.

Next week we'll start a new series called "What if"  This will be the first real series I've done on the vision of the church.  You don't
know how excited I am about this series.  I believe some people will leave due to this series and that is alright.  If they can't buy
into the vision God has laid on my heart, they need to find a church they can buy into.  Every human body and church body has to have a good bowel movement every now and then.

The purpose of this blog is for people of 5 Point Fellowship to get to know me.  Know the direction of our church and hear what God is doing.  I am going to do a better job of writing every day this year because I want all of you to know your pastor and your church.
