January 16, Loving Children
Its hard not to love children. We kept Hudson (2 year old Grandson) for several hours yesterday evening while Lawson & Michelle went to the doctor. I played football and wrestled with him for quite a while. He makes me laugh and I love being around him. When he is having a bad day I just send him back home to Mom and Dad. My opinion, that is why they're called grandchildren, because it sure is grand being able to do that.
Here at 5 Point we truly value children. We do not think for one minute what happens on Sunday mornings in the Kid Zone is considered baby sitting. Lawson & Michelle (and many other volunteers) are raising up warriors for Jesus Christ. WE spend a lot of time, money and effort into creating an atmosphere children will have fun in as they learn the about Jesus.
We also put a lot of time, effort, money and prayer into every Sunday morning worship experience for the adults. Our desire is for
life change to take place 52 Sundays a year. Being honest, it is hard for someone to concentrate when a child is crying or running around. Since we love children so much, from this point on children (ages 0 - 5th grade) will not be allowed into our worship
experiences.
Reasons for not allowing children in main auditorium:
1. Don't want children to get a bad perspective of church and Jesus Christ.
2. Church should be fun and children have fun in the Kid Zone.
3. Children learn a lot more in a atmosphere geared towards them.
4. The vision of this church is to reach people with the love of Jesus and teach them how to love others
like Jesus. If parents are attending to children, they won't learn a thing.
5. Not one child gets up on Sunday morning begging parents to let them listen to Dena speak.
But they do want to be with their friends and listen to Lawson & Michelle.
6. We value children entirely too much to bore them about Jesus.
I've spoken to numerous pastor friends who have made this same move and 100% of them say it was the best move their church
had made. Will some people get upset? Probably. But I hope everyone sees the reasoning behind this. We want everyone, regardless of age to grow in their walk with Jesus.
