March 9, Thoughts on Sunday
Yesterday was an exhausting day for me. The message wasn't particularly an easy message to teach. Went straight home and ate, changed clothes (put a suit on - ugh) and headed back to the office to prepare Susie's funeral. Did Susie's funeral, came to the church and got everything ready to speak to our married couples. After the marriage went to get a sandwich with the Powell's and Durham's. Love those people. You talk about sleeping good last night.
A few thoughts on yesterday:
* As bad as I dreaded teaching what God had laid on my heart, I knew it was necessary.
* Blown away by the response. People want to be challenged. People need to be challenged.
* We'll see the results from Sunday in the months to come. Will people actually begin to get uncivilized for Jesus? We'll see!
* No salvations but the day wasn't geared at salvation.
* I always get pumped up to see men responding to God's Word. Had a lot of men at the altar.
* I could sing Glorious One every week. Love the words.
* Attendance was really good. I was scared to death we'd be WAY down due to time change. Didn't set another all time high,
but attendance was very good.
* The Kid Zone had over 180. They'll have over 200 on a regular basis very soon.
* Love to see so many children having a good time as they learn about Jesus.
* Saw several new volunteers. Awesome to see new people getting involved.
* Have more people wanting to join. We'll be doing another New Members class real soon.
* Yes, I did say I am tired of all the denominational bull crap. Churches need to quit fighting over tradition and start loving Jesus
and loving on people.
* I'm convinced the church has the biggest opportunity in its history to reach people. What are we waiting on?
* I'm also convinced that 5 Point is on the verge of truly reaching A LOT of hurting people.
* It was hard to repent in front of all our people that I'd become civilized. But no more. While working out this morning approached
a couple guys and started talking about Jesus. This will be a daily thing again. I want to be completely uncivilized.
* Thank you to everyone who helps make Sundays happen.
* Continue to invite unchurched people. start with friends and family. Trust Jesus to give you the words. Pray for them.
* We did set an all time high in offerings. Why? It is called life change. People are beginning to truly trust Jesus, even with their
finances. I pray our offerings will double so we can do more for His glory.
Sunday night:
* We wrapped up our Fireproof marriage last night.
* It has been a lot of fun and I know marriages have been saved, others have improved and for some a major over haul was done.
* Getting away with 30 couples to Bon Clarken in two weeks will be incredible.
* Dwain had a big group of students here last night. They were all over the place eating pop corn and just hanging out before our
service. Awesome to see this when there are so many other opportunities for students this day and time.
* We had a bunch of people who have been attending Fireproof sign up for home groups.
* I'll be starting another one at our house and always enjoy getting to know our people.
* Looking forward to doing absolutely nothing next Sunday night.
A few other thoughts going through my head:
* Unleashed is this Thursday and I'm really looking forward to it. Great opportunity for our volunteers.
* The Easter egg drop is coming together. Some ladies down stairs right now stuffing eggs.
* We had a bunch, I mean a bunch of people sign up to help with the egg drop. It is going to really get our name into our community.
* We need a lot more candy to stuff the eggs. Please buy individually wrapped candy (example - tootsie rolls) and bring by the
church.
* Start PMS, the man series this Sunday. We'll be looking at how power can be a man's best friend, yet worst enemy.
* Deb's back has finally started getting a little better. She is still hurting but has begun to ease some. Maybe I can touch her again.
* Getting ready to start staff meeting. We got a lot to talk about today.
