April 1, Taking for granted

Grayson (2 month old Grand son) has been in the hospital since Saturday evening.  He has pneumonia and double ear infection.  I've been going to the hospital every day to visit with him and pray for him.  On Monday morning I went after dropping Jacob off at school.  I was by myself as I walked down the hallway filled with very sick children.  After I spent a couple hours with Michelle and Grayson I headed to the church to get started on this Sunday.  While driving a thought came to my mind, we take so much for granted.
Think with me the things we take for granted everyday:
* sleep through the night and get up the next day - life itself
* our health.  we never think about health until it is gone.  we seldom try and help our health with exercise and proper eating habits.
* our family.   they'll always be here.
* heat & air conditioning.
* freedom (better start praying about this one)
* safety as we travel.  it only takes a minor mishap and life could be over or greatly altered by an accident.
* sun will come up
* electricity
* our jobs
* spouse being faithful
* children loving us
* food in the pantry
* surplus of gas for our two or three vehicles
The list could go on but you should understand my point.  We are so blessed and we take so much for granted.
Will we ever be thankful for what we have and quit wanting more?  God tells us to be thankful for what were blessed with:

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,  Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."

Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Always amazes me that when I prepare to teach God's word it speaks to me more so than others.

Some random thoughts:
