July 27, Thoughts on Sunday

As I headed to lunch yesterday I was filled with a wide range of emotions.  Incredible life change had just taken place.  I was heart broken because people I have been praying for, by name, didn't even budge.  Attendance was down a little.  Life change took place so I was jacked up.  I was exhausted from   the weekend events yet excited that for some reason God decided to show up and show out.
Just a few of my thoughts:
* Starting off with the Beatles was great.  Tim and the band did awesome.
* As I showed pictures of 5 Point in Africa sitting in the chairs we bought I was encouraged to see how excited our people were.
* We have $6,000 for the land.  Renatus is meeting with the owner this week to see if he will accept $6,000 instead of the $7,000.
* So many people have commented on the message from yesterday.  I believe that is called conviction.  It is time for our church, our people and this community to understand 5 Point is in this for the long haul.  We are here to make a difference for the cause of Jesus Christ and to do that we must be radically in love with Jesus Christ!  No more luke warm bull.
* Was incredible watching 12 people stand before the entire church to accept Jesus as their Savior.  Not sure I'll ever be able to see life change and not get choked up.  I remember April 12, 1987 (day I gave my life to Jesus) every time someone gets saved.
* Spoke with several of the counselors after both services and they believed these people were serious about their life changing experience.  Lake/Baptism day on August 29th should be incredible!
* As I was hanging out with people after the second service a married couple asked to speak to me.  The woman was worried she may not have really given her life to Jesus earlier in her life.  It was awesome to discuss her salvation with her.  Again, that is life change taking place.
* Father god, may we come to EXPECT life change EVERY Sunday.  Not because of anything we do but because of YOU!
* Eva's testimony on video brought the message home.  She had been in church her entire life and didn't know Jesus.
* I looked at the clock and it was 10:31 and realized we were supposed to be done in 4 minutes and I still had some of the message left.  Thought about the time for another second and kept on teaching.  People were so tuned in.  Life change was taking place.  Who cares about a stupid clock?  The real answer, the people working in the kid zone and those over making the transition between the first and second service.
* I promise I'm going to try and shorten speaking time.  Hopefully.
* Saw so many people crying as they left and shook my hand.  Again, I think that is called conviction.  thank you for your encouraging words, smiles and allowing God to speak to you.
* I'm already excited about finishing this message next week.
* My home group met last night and it was awesome.  Started with home made ice cream followed up starting a Bible Study in the book of Ephesians.  This group is so hungry to learn the Bible.  Love these guys.
* If you need a home group to get in to, please give the church a call.  They truly can be life changing.

Some other thoughts:
* Just finished meeting with Tim and Corey.  We'll have this weeks service finished in the morning and I want next weeks done before leaving this week.  We are going to get ahead two or three weeks.  This will allow us to be more creative in the way we teach God's Word.  I've been trying to do this for two years and I'm going to make it happen, period!
* This week we'll be doing something never done at 5 Point.  Breaking out the choir!  Gonna be fun.
* Found out last week we have the entire Easley Recreation Complex reserved for our Easter egg drop.  This means we have twice the parking.  Goal, to have 20,000 people attend and hear about what God is doing at 5 Point.
* Halloween is right around the corner.  We want to do something different form the previous two years.  Just not sure as of what yet.
* September is always prime time for church growth.  For that reason you want a good series to kick off the fall.  Thought we had one but I'm going to change it.  More info coming soon.
* Up at 5:30 this morning.  Read the Bible for an hour.  Headed to the gym.  Worked out hard.  and tread mill plus 30 minutes of weights.  Can't think of a better way to start my day and week.
* Staff meeting today.
* Love what God has called me to do.
