July 29, Refreshed

I am a yard freak.  I have spent thousands of dollars on trying to get my grass to grow and be green.  I push mow my front yard when I have a riding mower because I want perfectly straight lines and the tire imprints.  Every year I buy flowers and fertilizer to try and improve the looks of my yard.  During the spring my yard is one of the best in the neighborhood.  Then summer rolls around and it goes for weeks without any water and 90 plus degree days.  I use to try and pour the water to it but it never looked as good as when God the Father watered it for me.

We've been through a couple weeks without much rain and my yard has turned its usual summer brown.  I hate it. Thankfully this week we've had a couple good rains.  I left the house early this morning but I could already tell a huge difference.  It has grown more in the past 48 hours than it has in two weeks.  It is greener than it has been in a month.  Why, because it has been refreshed.

The human body experiences the same thing.  We need refreshed physically so we eat.  The Bible puts it this way:
Genesis 18:5
Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way--now that you have come to your servant."
"Very well,"

I have days when I'm way down in the dumps and just being around certain people brings me up.  Its as if they have refreshed me.
1 Corinthians:18
For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.

But nothing can refresh man like God the Father.  When I'm really down for whatever reason and I need a pick me up there is nothing better than an experience with my heavenly Father.  Its as if I've had no rain showers and I'm so thirsty.
Psalm 68:9
You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance.

If your in a season of drought, spend some time with God.  Pick up the Bible, get on your face in prayer and listen to God.
