Aug. 31 Thoughts on Sunday
I wasn't expecting to see anything but people mad on Sunday, boy was I surprised. Some thoughts on the weekend:
* Can't imagine a baptism being any more powerful.
* Close to 300 people standing on the shores of scenic Lake Keowee watching 22 people getting baptized. It was awesome!
* Thanks to all who came and supported those being baptized.
* Thank you Danny and Krystal Slowe for preparing the meat. Incredible sacrifice for your church family.
* Sunday morning started with no volunteers except in the Kid Zone. No greeters, no coffee and donuts, no sound booth guys, nothing.
* It felt like a morgue in here as people were coming in. Everyone just walked right in and sat down.
* Tim started the day by singing a song with just his guitar and showing a video clip (in which he had to run to the sound booth and start). Little awkward during the time of silence. Shows how much we rely on volunteers.
* Message was on serving out of 1 Corinthians 12. To be honest, I didn't hold back. In fact, I asked people to leave if they couldn't accept and buy into our vision. Reach & Teach. Reach people with the love of Jesus and teach them how to love like Jesus.
* With a message about serving, 5 people stood and gave their life to Jesus during the second service. It was awesome!
* Wasn't sure how people would take message but the response thus far has been nothing but encouraging.
* Will some leave? Possibly. But only because they haven't bought into the vision and they would have left sooner or later.
* We are taking this church to another level and it starts with everyone getting involved and buying into the vision.
* Worship at end of message was powerful.
* Kid Zone was packed out. 200 again and school hasn't even started.
* Lawson spoke for Dwain (He and Anita & Megan are on vacation) and told me the place was packed out.
* We need an army of teens with a desire to change their schools for Jesus.
* Our offering continues to be decent. Let me be honest, we should be bringing in three to four times the amount we are. Meant what I said couple of weeks ago, "we aren't reaching more people because we don't have the money." Money is nothing but a heart issue with GREED being the key factor.
* Attendance this summer has been great. We have averaged over 200 more than last summer. Wait til school starts.
Some other thoughts:
* September 13th is only two weeks away. Start handing out the invitation cards and praying about who you can invite.
* I promise you, this series is going to open a bunch of eyes.
* Shared my testimony at Arise yesterday afternoon in Walhalla. Had a good time hanging out with Travis and his bunch.
* I was exhausted last night. In bed before 10:00.
* School starts tomorrow here in Pickens County. Pray for our teachers.
* Really buckling down this week to lose some serious tonnage. Want to be below 290 before this weekend.
* Loving this cool weather.
* Football starts Thursday night with the Gamecocks going against N C State. God and the angels are rejoicing.
