Sept 11, Never giving up
Got home last night at 3:00 am. Long drive home form Atlanta after watching my Tigers lose a heart breaker. (We got screwed on a couple of calls - another blog) But I was proud of those Tigers for not giving up when it looked like the game was over in the first quarter. They came out the second half and kicked butt. You could hear the momentum shifting form Georgia Tech to Clemson through out the third quarter. When Clemson finally took the lead the stadium was deafly quiet. All you could hear was Tiger fans singing Tiger rag with the band. It was oh so sweet.
As a pastor I deal with a lot of people who think because the first half of life didn't turn out the way they wanted or had expected that the second half will be just as bad. Word of encouragement for everyone, you can come out kicking butt and changing the big mo factor. The Clemson coaching staff made adjustments to what Georgia Tech was doing during half time. We can all do the same. And the biggest adjustment comes with our walk with Christ. I continually examine where I am with him and what I can do to better my relationship.
As my 47th birthday approaches next week I realize I'm probably in the late third quarter (or even later) of my life here on earth. I want the big mo factor on my side. What must I do, make some adjustments.
What adjustments do you need to make in your life? If you've been doing the same thing for years and its not working, do you really think continuing to do so will change anything? Make the adjustments. Start kicking butt and taking name for the King.
Don't forget to be praying for this Sunday as we kick off American Jesus.
Who are you bringing?
See you Sunday.
