Septemebr 30, Lots of thoughts
I am back from Sea coast in Charleston, SC and ready to get back in the saddle. Great conference and I picked up some gold nuggets about church planting along the way. Got to spend two days with my former pastor/mentor/ great friend Kevin Childs. He led me to Christ and baptized me. Special place in my heart for that guy.
I haven't written anything since week before last and a lot has been running through my head. Let me share some of those thoughts:
* Awesome day for 5 Point last Sunday. God really showed up and showed out.
* Heard so many positive comments about the life change taking place.
* Only discouraging news was our offering. Lowest it has been in months.
* I never pray for God to give us more money, my prayer is that people fall in love with Jesus, then the giving will follow.
* As I was driving to and from Charleston I had some time to think about vision and direction.
* Fasting today. Asking God for clarity about our vision.
* Our building will soon be hurting our growth. No foyer space and the Kid Zone is almost 100% full.
* Begging God for direction on land or a building.
* Praying through starting a third service in January. Question we have to ask ourselves is, "are we willing to stretch ourselves in order to reach more people?" Its all about vision.
* Continually challenging the staff to take their ministry to another level.
* Working on Sunday services through February.
* The Ugly Truth marriage series is going to be brutal. As in your face as it gets.
* Plan on having a open invitation meeting about marriage problems. I want to hear from you on what makes marriage work and fail.
* Child dedication this Sunday evening. Should be fun.
* Loving this weather.
* Haven't been fishing in close to two months. Going this weekend.
* If the past three Sundays have ruffled some feathers, wait til this Sunday. Can't wait.
* I have been asking God to show me why were not reaching more people. I don't like some of the answers. Working on them.
* Is it unthinkable for us to literally change this city with the gospel of Jesus Christ? I'm convinced Jesus is waiting on us!
* Halloween is quickly approaching. Lets use this day to reach people for Jesus and not glorify the devil. Bring candy (a bunch of it by the church) and plan on serving our community that evening by helping with the rides and booths.
Enough for now, just some of the many thoughts racing through my head.
