Oct 5, Thoughts on Sunday

Some of my thoughts on yesterdays events:
* Very busy day here at 5 point.  2 morning services, child dedication at 5:00 and youth service at 6:00.
* Felt like everything clicked yesterday.  Worship was great, people really listening to message, volunteers serving, just felt good.
* Really enjoy worshiping with Tim and the band.  Courtney tore up her solo.
* Discussed loving our enemies.  Tough topic for all of us.
* I've been very impressed with attendance during this series, thought we'd lose a few but were actually growing.
* Met numerous first time visitors and they commented on how much they enjoyed the service.
* A man stopped me in the parking lot to say thanks for all 5 Point had done to change his life.  You'll see his story on big screen one day.
* I absolutely love being in the parking lot before the service. Hanging out with our volunteers and welcoming everyone.  I'm not able to do it a lot but when I do it, it jacks me up.
* Walked into the Kid Zone to see how things were going during worship.  There are kids everywhere.  I love it.
* Kids space will be a problem in near future.  We continue to try and create more space.
* Dwain and the youth volunteers continue to do a great job providing our teens with an awesome service created just for them.
* Dwain is dealing with some tough topics our teens need to hear. Last night was about cutting.  You'd be amazed how many teens have experimented with cutting.  Life change is happening and that is whats its all about.
* Next week we continue with American Jesus.

Some other thoughts:
* I have a good friend who is sitting in the hospital watching his Dad die.  Went and visited with him after second service yesterday.
My heart goes out to him because I know what its like to sit around and wait for parent to die.  One thing for sure, his Daddy definitely knows Jesus.  My prayer, for Jesus to take him home quickly.
* Looking at a building in a couple hours that could possibly be a youth building.  Were going to need this building on Sunday nights beginning January.
* Did Clemson really get beat by Maryland?  And no, I will never be a Gamecock fan.
* Spent a lot of time in prayer this morning.  Seeking God's direction on several decisions.
* Short week in the office.  Monday through Wednesday getting everything ready for Sunday.  Thursday and Friday all of the staff will be in Atlanta for Catalyst.  Best leadership conference in America.  Can't wait to hang out and learn together.
