Dec 14, Thoughts on Sunday

Anytime I get up on a Sunday morning and see that the weather is ugly, I'm concerned.  Always amazes me how rain and colder temperatures keep people from coming to worship Jesus Christ.  As I walked into the auditorium I was surprised at the crowd.  But even more importantly I was impressed with how God moved.
Some thoughts about the day:
* Great day at 5 Point.  Everything just seemed to click.
* Loved walking into the front door and having snow blowing down on us.  (snow machine ) Heard some say it was really snowing.
* Tim and the band were amazing.  The Christmas songs were great.  By the way, Tim hates Christmas music.
* Worship after the message was as good as it has ever been.  Love worshiping with our band.  They do a great job of leading us to the throne room of God.
* Leslie nailed her solo, Oh How He Loves Me.  It was awesome.
* Message was taken well.  Believe people left encouraged and not beaten up about sharing the good news of Jesus.
* We had 150 more people than the same Sunday last year, and that is with awful weather.
* One of the major high lights for me was watching our staff:
    a. 180 in Kid Zone.  Kids everywhere having fun while learning about Jesus.  Michelle and her volunteers do a great job.
    b. Tim and the band were incredible.
    c. The stage and video/tech stuff has gone to another level since Corey arrived.  Love the look of our stage right now.
    d. Ann is getting all the right people in the right spots.  More and more people have begun to volunteer.
    e. Dwain had another big crowd of teens and volunteers last night.  Our students have tripled since Dwain came on board.
* I am convinced the year 2010 will be the year we begin to run 1,000 on a regular basis.  We'll be having three services and seeing more life change than any time in the brief history of 5 Point.
* I'm convinced our next series, "Ugly Truth" will impact the marriages of this community.
* Thank you Lord Jesus for all your doing.

SOME VERY SAD NEWS:
As the majority of you know, I was born in California.  All of my relatives from my Dad's side still live on the West Coast.  I stay in touch with some of them on a regular basis and others somewhat.  My Aunt Naomi (Dads sister) and her family are some of those I talk to regularly.  Her daughter, Darla has 5 kids.  They are truly on of the most incredible families I've ever met.  I love them dearly.

As I was leaving church yesterday I saw that my aunt had called.  She informed me that Darla's oldest daughter, Katie, had been lost in an avalanche.  Katie has not been found and the rescue efforts have been called off.

Katie was an incredible woman.  She gave her life to serving Christ.  She has traveled the world making a difference for Jesus.  My heart is broken for all of her family.  You can watch one of the reports below.

Pleas be in prayer for all of the family.  I'm still begging God for a miracle.
