Jan 11, Thoughts on Sunday
I was honored to be a part of what could have been one of the most amazing worship services I've ever been in yesterday at 5 Point. Some thoughts on an awesome day:
* Started the "Ugly Truth" marriage series by laying a foundation for marriage.
* Energy level in both services was incredible.
* The band knocked it out of the park.
* The video Corey made with the 5 people sharing their ugly truth stories set the tone for the day.
* Whatever it Takes along with the video brought the day to an amazing end.
* I am blown away by the boldness and honesty of Clark and Dee Dee Ford. (If you weren't here, they shared the ugly truth of Clark's emotional affair.) It was incredible. I am so proud of them and what God has done in their marriage and walk with Christ.
* What an awesome way to start the series.
* Yes I asked all the women who wanted more affection, help around the house and better communication to stand. AND THEY DID!
* And yes, I asked all the men who wanted to have more sex with their spouse to stand, AND THEY DID!
* Results, we found the secret to marriage. Men clean the house and women allow a lot more sex!
* We only had 30- 40 empty seats in the second service.
* It would be awesome if some people who attend the second service would begin attending first service. Need the seats.
* Kid Zone had over 200.
* Lawson, Michelle and every volunteer stepped up and made hundreds of kids have fun while learning about Jesus.
* Had a bunch of visitors. Several introduced themselves to me and told me just how much they loved the service and would be back.
* All the volunteers outside greeting, parking, holding doors, etc did an awesome job regardless of the frigid temperatures.
* Debbie read me countless messages she had on face book about how awesome the day truly was.
* Gotta love it when a plan comes together!
Every Sunday evening the youth meet from 6:00 - 7:30. Had a great crowd tonight. But the really cool thing is that two young men were baptized. E.J. and Justin had both asked if we would do another baptism after last weeks. They knew they needed to do the right thing and they did. E.J. shared his testimony before being baptized. It was incredible.
Some random thoughts:
* All these new people are creating some incredible problems:
* We need more seats. We need more volunteers. We need more space.
* Our lobby area is killing us. Please make sure you don't stop in the doorway and become a door. Trying to move hundreds of people through such a small area is chaotic enough as it is. If you should get side tracked talking, please be nice to the volunteer who ask you to step out of the door way.
* The Kid Zone is running out of space. We're making some more changes to try and be creative with the space we do have.
* I dread getting the gas bill this month. Heating this old theater with such cold temperatures, ouch.
* Foot is doing much better. Actually walking without too much pain. Still can't run or jog. Lucky to be walking.
* Doctor said blood test all came back good. Let me quote the doctor, "I don't know what happened."
* If I have a good week, I will weigh under 280 for the first time this Sunday. Be glad to get that monkey of my back.
* Some of the very marriages that needed to be at marriage improvement last night were not here. I don't understand that.
Complain about being miserable and when you offer something to help, never show up.
* Have a meeting today at 2:00 with the city about our egg drop. It is going to be incredible!
* Already looking forward to seeing what God has in store for all of us this Sunday. Feeling pretty good about it.
Have a great week and do something radical for Jesus.
