March 17, Handling Critics
The man preaching against our church on Sunday has really had me thinking. Here are some of the things I continue to ask myself:
* Could I have better portrayed Christ through my actions. (I didn't slug him so that was a positive)
Just saying!
* Should I have just stood from a far and prayed for him. He is obviously hurting. You can't scream that kind of venom at someone without hurting deep inside.
* Was there any truth at all in what he was saying? I know not, but always ask that question about criticism.
* How will I and others handle it this Sunday? I believe he will be back and possibly with others.
* What type of witness will we portray as people are watching and driving by?
* Does this young man know Christ? I wonder because if you base your salvation on the style of clothes you wear you don't understand the blood of Jesus.
* Will we look at this individual as an opportunity or a burden?
I'm asking everyone who reads this and attends 5 Point to seriously pray about how we handle our criticism because it will continue to come. The Bible guarantees it. We must love on every critic. I love how Rick Warren states it, "we must out love our critics." So well said. If some more show up this Sunday, lets not argue with them but form circles of people praying for them, praying for the people driving by, praying that God would use us to show our community we are different. Offer them a cup of coffee and a donut. Just love on them like Jesus would do.
Some random thoughts:
* Ankle swelled up again yesterday. Had it drained for third time. Not good. Been to 4 different doctors. Please pray for God to heal or allow doctors to figure out what is wrong. Very painful and definitely takes me away from what I've been called to do.
* Stuffing eggs again this Saturday from 10:00 until done. Should be finished before lunch. Please come and help us finish up.
* We need more candy before Saturday. There is none at the church right now.
* I'm asking all those who will to pick a day next week and fast with me. I hope we have 10 people for each day. Fasting for our egg drop and Easter services in which we'll have three services. You can sign up here or at Connect Central Sunday morning.
* Baptism on March 28th. Love it!
* God gave me an incredible message for this Sunday. Busting at the seams to share with everyone already. Definitely help all of us to stay focused.
* Who are you inviting to Easter Sunday services? People are waiting for you.
* Andrew is home for spring break. Enjoy having my boy at home. Going to do some fishing later in the week.
* Grand Sons coming over for dinner again tonight. I love those boys.
* Seriously, do something outside of your box for Jesus today.
