March 25, Prayer Walking
I did something today I haven't done a lot of lately and that is prayer walking. Went to the J. B. Owens Complex and prayed over the entire complex. I walked around all 5 fields asking God to watch over our event. Prayed for good weather, safety for everyone involved, and every child that would pick up eggs. Prayed that our volunteers would love on people regardless. Begged God that people would eventually come to know Him through our efforts. Prayed over where the inflatables would have thousands of kids jumping on them. Sat on a bench in the middle of all the fields and began to see an incredible day unfold before my eyes. I am excited about what God is going to do this Saturday through the people of 5 Point Church.
I've had several people ask me recently why we're doing the egg drop. Simple answer, it fits into our vision. We want to reach this community for Christ and to do that we must first show the community we care. How better to do so than by creating a family oriented event in which everything is free and done with excellence. We're not asking anything from the people but to come and have fun.
We have invitation cards to hand out to everyone who attends (see below) letting them know the basic information about our church. When they come to a point in their life and realize their way isn't working they'll remember this event and who did it.
To all our volunteers. Wear that yellow shirt with pride. Love on people like you've never done before. Allow the love of Jesus to show through you. Remember what it was like not having a church and actually resenting those who do attend. Remember the lowliness you felt before knowing Christ. Pray with me that God uses you in an awesome way Saturday.
We have another BIG DAY on Sunday. We'll begin our three services. The times are 9:15, 10:45 and 12:15. This will be a good practice run for us so that we'll be ready for Easter Sunday. Had a great creativity meeting today about Easter Sunday. Being honest I told the staff what I wanted to do and they all liked it. Doesn't usually work that way but I've really been begging God to speak into my life about our upcoming series, "The Life You Were Meant To Live." Easter Sunday is going to be amazing so bring a bunch of unchurched friends and family.
See you Saturday at the egg drop. I'll be the one wearing a BIG, BRIGHT, YELLOW shirt.
