March 30, 2010 Egg Drop

I have been praying for our egg drop the past few weeks.  Told our people I was praying specifically for three things:
1. Beautiful weather - there is no plan B for this type  event.
2. For thousands of people to show up.
3. Our volunteers would allow Jesus to be seen through them.

Saturday morning started early for Tim and I as we put out our egg drop signs for people to follow to the J.B. Owens Complex.  As I drove away Saturday night around 7:30 I was overwhelmed at how wonderful the day had been.  God answered all three prayers in an awesome way.  The weather was spectacular.  Couldn't have asked for a better day.  Not a cloud in sight and temperature hanging around 70.  People showed up by the thousands.  I couldn't believe the steady flow of people pouring in form 2:00 until 4:00.  And our volunteers; I can't say enough.  Over 200 5 Pointers showed up to serve our community and they flat showed out.  I am so proud of our people.  Allowing the love of Jesus to be seen through their hard work and faithfulness.  The people of Pickens County truly saw Jesus with skin on Saturday.

The staff met yesterday to talk about how to make next year bigger and better.  We already have some incredible ideas flowing.  Something was said about me bringing the prize eggs onto the field and the word parachute was brought up.  Have to wait and see.

You know the old saying, a picture is worth a thousand words.  ENJOY!

One of the fields with 30,000 plus eggs covering it.

Kids waiting to attack the fields.  All those yellow shirts had their hands full holding them back
.

Eggs being dropped from the chopper.  Way too cool!

The inflatables stayed busy from the time they were blown up until the plugs were pulled.

Thomas the Train is always a favorite among the kids.

Gotta love the intensity of getting those eggs.

Thanks to everyone who made the 5 Point Egg Drop such an incredible success.
May lives be changed through our efforts and the name of Jesus be glorified!
