April 13, They all look alike

Debbie says I have a little hoarding in me.  That very well could be true but I don't need therapy to throw stuff away.  When I clean I start chunking.  This past weekend I threw a bunch of junk out of the garage so I could get my jeep out.  Among all the junk was an old lawn mower battery.  There were actually two in the garage.  One was dead and useless while the other was only a year old and used for running the aerator (blows air into tank which keep bait alive) in my boat.  I was suppose to take the old one back and get $5.00 back but hadn't gotten around to it.  The only problem was they both looked identical.  The older one looked as good as the new one.  The only difference was what was going on in the inside.  One was dead and one was fully charged and ready for action.  I threw away what I thought was the old one but found out I had thrown away the newer one.

Jesus Christ talked people in the same manner, specifically churched people.  They all look alike, its just that for many the inside is dead while there are only a few who are fully charged and ready for action.  You can find this story in Matthew 13.  It is called the parable of wheat and tares.  They grow up together and you can't tell them a part until time for harvest.

And that is exactly what I'm so scared for with so many churched people today in America.  My goodness, we had a guy telling all of us are going to hell because we don't wear ties.  If a piece of cloth 16 inches long and 3 inches wide gets you to heaven why are we wasting our time trying to reach this city?  This man doesn't know the same Jesus I met on April 12, 1982.

But we're all growing up together.  Here is my biggest fear.  The time of harvest isn't far away.  I have begun praying for churched people to get saved weekly.  So many who think because they walked a aisle or signed a card they have their heaven ticket.  It has nothing to do with a tie or a walk down the aisle but a relationship with the one and only true king, Jesus Christ.  Pray with me that 5 Point would be a church that grows people who are alive and fully charged.  Ready for action.  ready to win a city.

Let me finish with the words of Christ himself:

Matthew 13:30
Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.' "

May we be all about gathering wheat and helping the tares recognize their true state!
