April 19, Thoughts on Sunday

Some of my thoughts on yesterday's three services:
* Another great day at 5 Point.
* Talked about using the gifts God gave us for his glory and not ours.
* Looked into the life of Saul and how he was a very talented man but used those talents to destroy the church and not build it up.  Wanted everyone to understand God gave everyone certain gifts and talents and that we must use them for his glory to live the life we were meant to live.
* Just because we enjoy something doesn't mean we are supposed to do it for a living.
* Pointed out that a lot of people enjoy drinking beer and screwing anything they can, but that doesn't mean that is why God put them here.
* And yes, I told Christians they need to get their heads out of their rear ends and quit whining about not being worthy.  None of us are, especially Saul.  Use the gifts God gave you to glorify him and not yourself.
* Felt as if the second service was a dud.  Just seemed dead.  And then seven people stood and accepted Jesus.  Not even sure how many people stood admitting they have just been going through the motions.
* 9 people stood up and gave their life to Jesus in all and went back to speak with someone.
* That is exactly why we do what we do.
* Cool story.  A woman asked to speak to me after the second service and she was visibly upset.  Started by thanking me for sharing what God had laid on my heart.  Explained that she brought her aunt and uncle for the first time and they both stood and gave their life to Jesus.  Hugged me while tears were pouring down her eyes.  WOW!
* We only had 80 adults in the third service.  It was actually kind of fun teaching to that small of a group.  And two stood up and gave their life to Jesus.
* Michelle had a bunch of volunteers out from the Kid Zone.  But those that were there did an awesome job as usual.  Well over 200 kids had a blast as they heard about Jesus.
* Started signing in visitors outside and all went well.  Took some of the confusion out of the lobby area.  Will continue this.

Some other thoughts:
* Yesterday was our last day of three services.  Only two this week.  9:15 and 10:45.
* Started a new life group last night.  Love getting to know new people.  Heard some awesome testimonies about our church.
* I'm encouraging everyone to get involved in a life group.  I wouldn't miss ours for nothing.  Except going to Africa in 6 weeks
* Today is Deb and my wedding anniversary.  More on that tomorrow.  I have learned a lot about marriage over the past three decades.  Am I really that old?  Do I really have all this gray hair?
* Really getting excited about Africa.  If you and your family are filling a bottle full of coins, "get her done."  Want to line them across the stage before we leave.  Think we have 20 thus far.
* Looking at a possible building for 5 Point later in the week.  Not Wal-Mart but another.  The Colony is killing us.
* Enough for today.  Have a great evening and do something out of your box for Jesus!
