May 3rd, Thoughts on my Sunday

Debbie and I left last Wednesday after work for Myrtle Beach to celebrate anniversary.  The get away served as two purposes, a chance to get away with my bride and to rest.  I had spoken 21 weeks in a row and needed a break.  Deb and I had a great time.  Weather was perfect.  Beach wasn't crowded at all.  Got way toooooo much sun!  Stayed at the Glass Towers on the 17th floor.  Our room was nothing but a window.  The bed was up against a window 17 stories high, great view.

On Saturday night we attended Bare Foot Community church.  I knew the Pastor and had heard great things about the church.  Here are some of the things I really enjoyed and learned:
* Great outdoor atmosphere.  They were grilling hot dogs and giving them away.
* Music was very good.
* Stage design was incredible.
* They meet in a remodeled theater and had two portables for the children ministries.  Very creative and productive.
* Clay did a good job challenging the people.
* Really enjoyed the experience.

Went to Damons and had some ribs that would jack your jaws after with some old friends.

Sunday morning Deb and I attended The Rock located in Conway.  Kevin Childs is the pastor and led personally led me to Christ.  Served with him in the ministry for over a decade as his youth pastor.  They meet in Conway High School.  Some things I picked up worshiping at The Rock.
* Jealous of all the space they have.  Incredible facility for a church to meet.
* Great to hear my pastor speak again.  Had been years.  As usual he did an awesome job.
* Their band did a great job.  Probably a little heavier than ours but that isn't bad.
* Talking with Kevin at lunch they are experiencing some of the same growth problems we are.
* They have two services also.  Deb spent one in the children's area and I spoke briefly in both services.  Kevin did a little Q & A with me on the stage.
* They have land picked out and over 1/2 paid for and drawings for their building.  ENVIOUS!

Heard everything went good at 5 Point without me.  Haven't spoke with Greg yet but will do so later in the day.  Tell the staff all the time they really don't need me around here.

Really looking forward to starting our new series, "Conversations with Jesus" this Sunday.  Going to be fun!
