June 22, Home from Africa
I'm not even sure how to begin writing this. After three weeks in Africa I still haven't digested everything I experienced. Not possible to share everything with one post so for the next few days I will be sharing some of my insights. Will begin today with the most prominent thought I had every day after leaving the villages and returned to my motel room. We are so blessed in America and most take it for granted. We all know the saying, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Let the pictures speak for themselves..

Make sure you notice the water behind Renatus and to the left of Richard. I wouldn't let my dog drink form this much less my family yet all of them drink it everyday. And this was a 15 minute walk from Selena's house. Every day the kids carry water from this mud hole to drink, cook and bathe with.

I will be sharing a lot of the incredible things God did while I was in Africa later. But wanted to share just a few of the pictures I had form everyday life. Richard and I came back to the motel every night blown away by the life style of these people. The funny thing is they seem a lot happier than most Americans who have everything.
So the next time your having a pity party remember something, you are living better than 95% of the worlds population. Do we really have that much to complain about. Just a thought.
A normal home in the villages I spoke and where were building 5 Point of Tabora
There are probably 9 to 12 people living in this house.
We have 2,000 square foot homes and complain not big enough with four people living in them.

This is one of the churches I spoke in. Can you see Americans coming to worship in this week after week, especially during the summer or rainy season? When I spoke here the place was packed out with people standing outside the windows and rear of the church.
Woman pulling water up 40 - 50 feet at a well. A 5 gallon bucket of water weighs up to 50 pounds. She will then the bucket on her head and carry it to her house which could be miles away. We expect water and complain when we don't have enough pressure for the shower.
Richard and I had lunch with Selena and her family one day. I will share more about this later and Sunday morning. I left this house a changed man. Never been so humbled in all my life. Selena, her husband and seven children all live in this house. Notice the sticks holding up the wall on the right. They all sleep on the dirt and wear the same clothes for months at a time. Just think about that for a moment when you complain about having nothing to wear yet the closet id full.
