June 28, Thoughts on Sunday
God gave me a special word for our church while in Africa. Some of my thoughts on how the day went:
* Incredible day at 5 Point.
* Tim cut his hand open Saturday working on a lawnmower and had to get a bunch of stitches. We had already planned on him leading with nothing but a guitar so Matt stepped in and played while Tim sang and it was awesome. So simple yet so powerful.
* I had already told everyone I was speaking longer than usual so after Tim opened us in worship it was me.
* Here are the 5 points to the message entitled, "What I learned in Africa."
1. We must all make serve Christ or the culture
2. We have no idea just how blessed we are in America
3. Africans know how to worship
4. Africans understand there is a cost to following Christ
5. Giving is the most Godly thing we can do
* And yes, I spoke for over an hour and do not apologize for it. God gave me that message and I shared it straight from my heart.
* As the spirit moved among our people in both services I didn't regret speaking that long for one minute.
* I won't be making a habit of speaking that long, I don't think.
* Richard sharing that he is going back to Africa to live and finish church was incredible. We will have our first African missionary.
* Please pray for him as he sells everything and begins his life in Africa.
* I gave everyone a chance to sponsor a orphan, Richard and a couple living in orphanage. Was too emotional a day to ask for commitments right then. Asking people to seriously pray about it and let me know this Sunday.
* It will cost $30.00 a month to sponsor a child.
* We will be asking everyone to help buy Richard a ticket back to Africa. One way is a little over $1,000.
* Went home and had lunch with family and Richard.
* Then fell asleep on couch.
Some other thoughts:
* Very excited about speaking at 5 Point again this Sunday. Began working on message while in Africa.
* Its amazing how God can speak to you when you slow down, get sill and listen. A blog for another day.
* Got up early this morning and hung out with God. Walked 2 - 3 miles and then headed to office. Gonna be a great day.
* Driving to the office this morning I continued talking to God about our future. Very excited about what is in store.
* Have a great day and do something radical for Jesus. Speak to that person, help someone out, give away something. Just do something for Jesus and quit asking him to do everything for you!
