July 1, Working in Africa

Mission trips are a lot of fun, but they can also be a lot of work and should be,  I went to Africa to make a difference for the Kingdom of God and not just to sight see.  One Saturday we needed to level the dirt inside of our church.  While digging the foundation dirt was thrown onto both sides.  In order for all the block work to be done the dirt needed to be leveled.  So me and a bunch of women and kids went to throwing dirt.  Elisha (helps lead worship at 5 Point Tabora) helped also.  He was great to have around because he spoke pretty good English and translating for me.  Notice that most of the blocks had not been laid.  After spreading the dirt we carried the block to where they would be laid.  Check out this video of us spreading the dirt.

Here are a couple pictures of the church Renatus took me to speak.  Make sure you notice just how bad of shape the building is in.
No windows.  No doors. Dirt floor.  No electricity.  Just mud bricks and some wooden planks to sit on.

The drive to this church was close to two hours and the road was awful.  But what took place was incredible.  I gave an invitation the second day and Africans of all ages accepted Jesus as their Savior.  The 3 days of travel to Africa and two hours on the bumpy dirt road paid off with major life change.  It was incredible.

5 Point of Tabora will be finished in just a few short months and will result in major life change.

Why am I sharing all of this?  Because for major life change to happen it takes work.  We can't just wish and pray for life change.  We gotta put on our work clothes and go to work.  Jesus never told us to sit and stay.  He continually tells us to "GO."  And here is the cool part.  We don't have to go all the way to Africa to see major life change.  All we have to do is look around wherever we are.

Will it take hard work?  Yes.  Could it require you to get out of your safety zone?  Yes.  But think about the results.  Think about being able to say you helped change the lives of others.  Now don't read this and then hope others get to work.  Let's all get to work and begin changing lives for the Kingdom of God.
