Sept. 7, Thoughts on Sunday
Really enjoyed my Labor Day weekend. Spent Monday at Table Rock State Park with the family. Hudson (my Grandson) wanted to go on a hike. We had a blast.
Some thoughts on another phenomenal day at 5 Point:
* Our service were unlike any we've ever done.
* Started with 4 high energy songs in a row.
* Showed one of my favorite videos, "That's My King." A black preacher is describing the names and attribute of Christ. WOW!
* I then shared the history of the church. How we started and showed pictures along the way.
* Shared two true but awful stories:
1. On our third Sunday had a video glitch. The words nasty shi_ were said out loud. Not good.
2. The following Sunday our first black man came and died of a massive heart attack. SERIOUSLY!
* Had people raise their hands who have been touched through the ministries of 5 Point. 80% of the people did so.
* Did something a little dangerous but just felt really led to do so. Had people share how God has used 5 Point in their life. WOW is all I can say. Some incredible stories.
* We then had the Lords Supper down front allowing people to come during four more worship songs. I was able to lead a bunch of dear friends. Again, this was simply awesome.
* We also asked people to sign up for fasting. Have over 70 people fasting for this upcoming Sunday.
* Wasn't sure how the day would go since we've never tried anything like it, but it was an incredible day.
* Huge attendance for Labor Day.
* Met a bunch of visitors who loved it.
* I used Matthew 9:35-38 to say thank you to all our volunteers. Meant what I said, every time someone gives their life to Jesus they are taking part in it. Without volunteers Sunday mornings could not happen.
* Asked all our people, did they want to make a living or make a difference?
Some other random thoughts:
* This Sunday we will make history by having 1,000 in attendance for the first time. Are you going to be a part of that history by bringing unchurched friends and family?
* Remember, we're feeding BBQ to all those who bring someone.
* Please be praying for this Sunday. Not just a huge crowd but that God would do some incredible stuff.
* Thanks to all of you who are making 5 Point what it is and is going to be.
* The facebook series is going to be excellent!
