Sept. 12, Thoughts on Sunday
Happy 6th Birthday 5 Point and what a day it was. Some of my thoughts on the day:
* First of all I can't believe we have 5 years of existence behind us. Doesn't seem like that long ago we we're just thinking about all this.
* Between the two services we had over 100 people make some type of decision for Christ. WOW! That is a god thing in itself.
* During the first service a woman stood up and repeated the sinners prayer out loud in front of hundreds of people. It was amazing.
* Not sure how many stood between both services to receive Christ but a bunch made the decision to follow Jesus.
* Couldn't count the people who stood to beg Christ for forgiveness for the dark spots in their hearts.
* I am totally overwhelmed at what Christ is doing at 5 Point, especially with who the Pastor is.
* Seldom do I post anything about numbers but 5 Point set an all time high today breaking the 1,000 mark for the first time.
* We had 1,010 people. Had 450 at the first service and 560 at the second. To say it was crowded in some areas is an understatement.
* During the second service alone the Kid Zone had 24 first time families. WOW! Haven't heard total form Zone yet.
* I walked around the parking lot across the street before the first service and it was almost full.
* We are running out of room everywhere. What an awesome problem to have.
* We have more seats in the main auditorium but it doesn't do us any good if we can't park people's vehicles or get their kids in the Zone.
* I want to especially thank every volunteer at 5 Point. You guys rock. Thanks for all you do.
* No one knows just how hard the staff works. Great job guys.
* The band rocked again today. Love worshiping with those guys. Especially love it when the crowd goes nuts after a song.
* The stage looked incredible. All the facebook pictures on the stage looked great.
* Today's message was titled, "What's Your Status?" We looked into the life of the apostle Peter.
* Asked the question, what if Jesus and his disciples would of had facebook?
* 5 Key Status Updates for Peter
1. Sold everything today to follow a man named Jesus
2. Saw Jesus ........................... today
a. feed 5,000 people
b. heal a demon possessed boy
c. walk on water and I did also
3. I denied Jesus today
4. Jesus forgave me today
5. I will die for my Jesus today
* Main point of the message, "Jesus doesn't see us for what we are but for what we can be."
* And yes, I actually said USC is a good football team. Peter saw miracles and we're seeing one with them.
* I am convinced this is only the beginning of what God has in store for 5 Point Church.
* Next week we'll ask the question, "Who are you tagging?"
Some other thoughts:
* I'm writing this as our youth watch the movie, "To Save A Life."
* I watched it couple weeks ago and it is amazing.
* Have 70 - 80 teens here. Great start to our new youth ministry.
* Danny Slowe did an awesome job of preparing BBQ for everyone who brought a visitor. Thanks Danny.
* The staff and I are leaving Thursday afternoon to get away and begin preparing for our October series, "Satisfied?" Should be a lot of fun while we concentrate on taking 5 Point to a whole new level.
* I am exhausted. Looking forward to getting home and relaxing before cranking it back up in the morning.
