Sept. 22, Number 48
Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me. Yes today is my birthday. And thank you to everyone who has called, text or facebooked me. I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of your love and support.
In reality, my birthday is just another day. It just so happens to be the day my Mom gave birth to me. I had forgotten about it until someone text me last night. Several people have asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I don't want to sound over spiritual but I have everything in life I ever dreamed of. Seriously, I can't think of one thing I sit around and wish for. Now sure, there are some things it would be cool to have such as a new truck or 500 acres of land so I would have somewhere to deer hunt. A newer boat with all the techno stuff. A house on Lake Hartwell and another at Myrtle Beach. But, if I had all those things I wouldn't have time to do the things God has called me to do.
The above list is nothing but stuff. God has allowed me to get past stuff. I truly don't think about that kind of stuff anymore. But there are certain things in life that I must have in order to be happy. So let me finish today by sharing what I must have:
1. My relationship with Jesus. I continue to seek him daily and can't fathom life without Him.
2. My family. God has blessed me beyond measure with an incredible family. Deb and I have been married for 30 years and I love her more today than ever. Below is a picture taken last weekend at Lake Lure during our staff retreat. Deb and the kids bring me more happiness than any boat, truck or house ever could.

3. 5 Point Church. I can't imagine waking up and not heading to 5 Point. I love what God is doing here and what He is about to do. I can't believe I get to do what I do for a living. I want to reach this city for Christ more and more everyday.
I am very thankful for the 48 years God has given me here on planet earth and I'm willing to hang around long as He wants me here. But I'm ready to head home anytime my Jesus wants me!
