Dec 19, Thoughts on Sunday
Another great day at 5 Point yesterday. So excited about what God is doing. Some of my thoughts on the day:
* Did a message on spiritual gifts and people gave their life to Christ both services. Jacks me up.
* Really appreciate the people who get here early to have everything in place when people arrive.
* Worship was awesome. I love "Glory to God." seemed as if a lot of others do also.
* After intro video the staff was on the stage playing instruments they couldn't play and Lawson was singing. It was AWFUL. But it made the point that we've got to have the right people in the right places or we will never reach this city.
* Every child of God has spiritual gifts and God wants all of us using those gifts for His Glory.
* Tried to help everyone understand they are indispensable.
1 Corinthians 12:21-22
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"
22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
* Everyone plays a part.
* Talked about the person who carries out the poopie diapers, they are very important.
* Shared that I had been struggling with some of the things our church is going through. We were running right at a 1,000 and then; lose parking lot, still don't have the loan we need to finish new building. We have lost 200 plus people past few weeks. Also shared God showed me that if we had 2,000 people show up we aren't prepared. We must take our leadership to new level.
* Finished by showing video clip of Tim Tebow and how he is using his gifts to effect so many people.
* Wasn't real sure how to do invitation. Not a salvation message at all. We do have so many wonderful volunteers who are using their gifts. But, we have a lot who are out of place or doing nothing. Invitation time was powerful.
* I spoke too long. Michelle always lets me know. The timer on my screen never came on so I thought that meant I could speak for hours.
* We had a church planter and his wife with us. Jeff and Beth Moody are planting in Durham NC and wanted to come see what we do. Had lunch with them and just talked about church planting. Love those guys.
Some other thoughts:
* Had a great time last night walking a bunch of people through a spiritual gifts inventory.
* Can't wait for our Christmas Eve services. Going to be so much fun.
* Sunday morning I will be having church with my family at home as we celebrate Christmas.
* Next week the church office will be closed. Giving the staff a week off to spend time with family and rest. But they better enjoy it because 2012 is gonna be a rocking year.
* Gotta go. Staff meeting in a little while.
* One more thing, 5 Point Tabora will worship in their new building this Sunday. So excited for them. Lives are being changed in Africa because of what we as a church are doing over there.
