Dec 20, Choice Morsels
I love all the Christmas food but also hate it. Love the taste and hate the effects. There are so many "choice morsels" to choose from. When I hear the words "choice morsels" I'm thinking fudge, peanut butter roll, ham, turkey etc etc etc etc. Getting hungry as I write this. And you know all of us church goers like us some choice morsels.
But the Bible refers to choice morsels in another realm. Read Proverbs 26:22 with me,
Proverbs 26:22
22 The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts.
I said this past Sunday that it amazes me the way so many churched people beat each other down. Why can't we realize we're all on the same team striving for the same goal. Yes, we may do it a little different from each other but the goal doesn't change, reaching people far from God.
I can't think of a better Christmas present for Christ than for all his children to talk nothing but good about each other. To put differences behind them and think of the better cause. AND, the Bible is very clear about gossip,
Proverbs 11:13
13 A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.
Proverbs 16:28
28 A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends.
Proverbs 20:19
19 A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.
Some other thoughts:
* We fed 53 families today in our food pantry. WOW! Love serving the community.
* Amanda does an amazing job heading up our food pantry.
* We had 20 adult volunteers here serving in the food pantry. Love seeing 5 Pointers serving Christ by serving others.
* Christmas Eve message is about done. I promise you were going to have an awesome time worshiping the King.
* Don't forget our Christmas services are Saturday at 4:00 and 5:30.
* Now, lets go talk good about people and please Christ with it!
