Jan 2, Thoughts on Sunday

The office was closed last week and I took full advantage of it.  For the first time since we planted the church I tried not to do any church stuff.  didn't work or even think about any messages, didn't make any phone calls, didn't blog or twitter,  just relaxed and worked around the house.  BUT I MISSED IT!  So glad to be back in the office today.  So thankful for a job that I absolutely LOVE!

And since I took last week off I wasn't prepared to speak yesterday morning so Lawson Clary (our Executive Pastor) stepped in for me.  Some of my thoughts on the day:
* Got here at 7:30 and people were already here setting up.  Our volunteers are awesome!  Without them we wouldn't be the church we are.
* Worship was really sweet for me.  Felt good to sit back and worship knowing I wasn't going to speak.  I was just another person starting my year off by worshiping the King.
* And, I always enjoy worship with Tim and our band.  They're just good!
* Lawson did an amazing job.  No other way of saying it.
* He finished our REVIVAL series by discussing how to hear from God.
     1.  We hear him through His Word
     2. We hear him through other people.
     3. We hear him through our circumstances
     4. We hear him through a still small voice
     5. We hear him through an actual voice
* Spent some time walking through the Kid Zone.  Always amazes me just how fortunate our kids are to be able to worship the way they do.  It has come A LONG WAY since I was a kid.  Can't wait to get our kids into new building.
* Attendance was down.  That blows my mind.  I am a child of God so I'm going to start the New Year by sleeping in because I stayed up too late the night before partying.  Now that makes sense!

Some other thoughts:
* Will begin "Shocking Statements of Jesus Christ" this week.  Bring a friend.  Great time to bring people because they are turning over a new leaf.
* Please be praying with me about our loan.  Possibility we could hear something this week.  If we do, could have grand opening in new building by Easter.  Don't want to miss that opportunity.
* Sharing goals for our church tomorrow.
* Can't wait to see what is going to happen in 2012.
