Feb13, Thoughts on Sunday

I am truly blown away with what God is doing at 5 Point.  Some of my thoughts on an amazing day:
* Told Debbie Saturday night I dreaded to see Sunday because it was going to be so cold.  When I left Sunday morning it was 15 degrees.  By far coldest morning of the year.
* Stayed in my office most of the morning praying and looking over message.  Had a knot in my stomach because of the material I was covering.
* Looked at Matthew 5:27-28
Matthew 5:27-28
27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

* Not that America has a problem with LUST.
* Showed some of the Super Bowl commercials and some3 music videos.  Lets admit it folks, SEX SELLS in America.
* Problem is that the American church has bought into the lie also.
* We looked at 5 different verses to help us understand that God the Father takes the sin of lust very seriously:
     1.  1 Thessalonians 4:3
     2.  Colossians 3:5-6
     3.  1 Peter 4:3-5
     4.  Jude 1:7
     5. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20
* Asked our folks to take these home to read and study.  God truly does take lusting seriously.
* Not sure many realize that God the Father destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their sexual sin.
* If God was willing to destroy a city because of their sexual perversion and they didn't have porno movies, magazines, web-sites and the like are we so arrogant that we think God won't do the same to us?  ANSWER, YES!
* Amazing to see how many people raised their hands admitting they are truly struggling in this area.
* Guess I shouldn't be surprised when latest statistics prove that 49% of American Christian homes are dealing with major pornographic problems.
* In fact, according to XXX Church 75% of Pastors look at porn and masturbate.
*  And yes I said that the church needs to close their legs and open their Bibles.  Think of what we could do!
* My heart is aching for our Country and she is driven by money and sex.  Amazing how some things never change.
* Spoke 50 minutes in the second service.  Entirely too long but people we're hanging onto every word.  Tension was high because so many toes we're being stepped on.
* Worship was amazing.  I love watching so many people with hands held high to the King.
* Couldn't believe the number of first and second time guest.
* Remember, people had to walk a country mile to get to the front door.  Eat their donuts and drink their coffee in 20 degree weather.  Stand in line for 10 minutes to get kids checked in and out.  Rub shoulders in lobby and struggle to find a seat. And we still had 900 people attend.  SERIOUSLY!
* New slogan around here, "if you attend 5 Point you must really want to come to church."
* But that is all changing!  Announced we we're approved for our loan.  Work on building will start back up as early as this week.  Praise God.  Just think, parking lot and everything :)
* We will finish our "Shocking Statements of Jesus Christ" this Sunday.  I promise you I have saved the best for last.  Bring a friend, you don't want them to miss this Sunday.
* Love the momentum we have right now.
* Can't wait to see what God has in store for all of us!

* When I walked into auditorium I could n't beleove the people.
