Feb 20, Thoughts on Sunday

I hate knowing its going to rain and be cold on a Sunday morning.  Thought our attendance and energy would be way down.  AS USUAL, I was wrong.  Some of my thoughts on another amazing day at 5 Point:
* 20 people stood and received Christ.  That is why we exist.
* A minimum of 100 people stood and admitted they we're saved but had fallen away from the cross and repeated a prayer begging forgiveness and committing to being the child of God they're supposed to be.
* Lawson saw a guy jogging in the rain and invited him into the service.  I was in the bathroom and he came in.  Introduced myself and we talked (yes in the bathroom).  Told me he hadn't been in church for more than a decade.  And guess what, the young man got saved!
* Storied like that jack me up!
* Ton of first and second time visitors again.
* We finished the current series, "Shocking statements of Jesus."
* Discussed How to know for sure how you are a child of God by looking at several of Christ statements.  Here they are:
How to Know for Sure
1. By your fruit - Matthew 7:15-20 and Matthew 7:13-14, 21-23
Matthew Littleton shared his testimony about being a Youth Pastor and not knowing Christ.  So easy for many to fall into church routine and never have a relationship with Jesus.  Great job Matthew!
2. Are you in love with Jesus - Matthew 10:37-38
Not a trick question.  Christ said we must love him more than parents or kids or we are not worthy of him.
3. Do you give financially to Jesus - Luke 14:33 / Matthew 6:19-21
Let's face it, we give to what we love and if your not tithing how can you say your radically in love with the King?  Not possible.  Don't get mad at me take the words of Christ himself.
4. Do you talk about Jesus - Matthew 10:32-33
Again, we talk about what we love.  Sick and tired of Christians saying their walk with Christ is a private thing.  BULL!  The majority of Christians have never led someone to Christ.   Why?  Never talk about him!
5. Do you serve others - Mark 10:41-45
Finished the morning the same way Christ finished his longest recorded message:
Matthew 7:24-27
24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

* So many church going people will experience a great crash one day.
* Band was awesome singing "It Is Finished" along with the video.  Not many dry eyes in the house.
* Attendance was awesome.  Close to 900 on a miserable day.  Raining, wind blowing and cold.  Thank you to everyone who came even though you had to walk so far in such lousy conditions.
* Kid Zone was rocking as usual.
* Our greeter team did an amazing job.  Stood in the rain to make people feel welcome.  THANK YOU!
* Yesterdays message took a lot out of me.  Went home and laid down.  Didn't get up until this morning.  Feel a lot better today.  Ready to rock and roll again.
* Thanks to everyone who helped unload so much food.  A lot of people will be fed through our food pantry.

Some other thoughts:
* Forgot to announce we're working at new building Saturday morning.  Knocking out glass windows and building walls in the Kid Zone.  Be doing some yard work and clean up also.  Come join the fun.
* Heading to staff meeting.  I am so fortunate to have such an awesome staff.
* Do something radical for Jesus this week.  He loves you so much. :)
